Eric,Glad you hooked up with Charlie. As I look over his email below, I now remember that he can sometimes overwhelm with info way beyond (at least in my case) my level of comprehension. I hope what you got out of him was helpful and not a waste of your time.

Working on a Peace Corps story for The New York Times Magazine
CLN Speaking Date
Dear Eric,
Well at last the CLN board met on Thursday and we are ready to offer you a choice of dates to come and talk to us. You have your choice of either Sunday, May 31st or Sunday, June 7th. It was decided that the venue would be in a private home---one with a nice garden so we could spread out, weather permitting. The time will be 2;00 to 4;00 with light refreshments. We invite you to bring your books for signing and purchase and, oh yes, your wife if she is so inclined.
Question; Are your trips to the kitchen for creative or noshing purposes?? If the former--bring favorite recipes.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Blissfully,
Lois

Bence's Bachelorette Party!!!
Hi Everyone!!
As our favorite bride-to-be prepares for her wedding, we'd like to throw her a bachelorette party in NYC! I know we have a few months... but we are very limited on the available dates. Brenna and I discussed the possible dates with Lauren, and the only one that seems to work is Sat. May 30. I know that's not going to work for everyone, but I'm hoping that most of you will be available and ready to party! So, if you are free as of now... please hold onto that date if possible. I apologize for anyone who is not available, but it was the only time that will work for her :(
She gave me this list of people to invite and I think I'm still waiting on a few email addresses from her. If there is anyone else you think she would want to come, please let me know so I can forward this information.
I asked Lauren if she has any requests for the night, and she said- good food, drinks, dancing and spending time with all you guys! She's soooo excited!!!
Here's our VERY tentative plan: Depending on who is able to come, we may get a hotel room in the city to preparty and play drinking games (and then anyone not from the city can have a place to crash that night).... then maybe a fun dinner (sushi/all you can drink place, Mangia e Bevi, etc) and then out to a fun dancing club/bar.
Please let me know if any of you have ideas on places we can go to eat/dance or any other fun activities!!! Also, let me know if you think you'll tentatively be available for the festivities.
Thanks all!
Lauren and Brenna
(Sorry this email is so long)
PS--- to all the Buffalo girls, GOOD LUCK with your matches!

Nice Piece in the Post
We get to read the Post, a real paper, when we're staying out in Rappahannock County. Was pleased to see your byline.
Thanks for pointing out the vicious cycle.
Say hi to Sharon. Retirement from Knight looms in a month.

Eric Weiner on the KPAM Portland Travel Show
Hi, Eric:
I hope you had a great holiday. We spent most of ours here in Portland buried beneath an unexpected whirl of snow, which is very unusual for this area. I think Al Gore's right.
We're still very interested in interviewing you for our weekend travel show on "The Geography of Bliss." As mentioned, we'd need you on the phone for only about ten minutes, and the interview would be recorded for later broadcast. And as of now, I have time available next Tuesday or Wednesday (January 6th or 7th) around 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. Pacific.
If that time frame doesn't work for you, please drop me a line and let me know what your schedule looks like. In any event, I hope we get a chance to speak soon.
Thanks,

David Weiner - Representation
Dear Mrs. Weiner,
This is to confirm our recent telephone conversation wherein you requested that I represent your son, David, in an effort to have his passport returned to him from the police.
As I explained, my fee of US$1,600 will include negotiating with the prosecution, filing the relevant motion and appearing before the court, as well as all necessary consultations with David. It is my hope that these means should suffice in order to achieve the desired result. However, should there arise a need for additional proceedings such as appeals, etc. I will notify you immediately.
As agreed, kindly FedEx me the above payment along with David's ATM card at my address listed below.
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
As of yet, I have not received an answer on David Gleisher's cell phone: ___-____976. Hence, I would greatly appreciate your having him call me at his earliest convenience.
With warmest regards,
Amos
This person should really learn to spell-check their emails before sending them out. I put it up as-is.
