The first response from Eric

Today I received an email thread intended for Eric the author. Apparently he is on another book tour.

From: Gloria
Subject: Eric Weiner concerned about possible late arrival
Carol,

What should I tell Eric?  I think I'm up and about later than you might be, perhaps he could call us if he is late.

From: Eric Weiner
Subject: Re: ring the front door bell
To: Gloria
Gloria,
Okay, I will. I'm sorry about my late arrival...it was unavoidable, given my book tour schedule and the West Coast flights. What should I do if my flight is delayed and get in after, say, 11:00 p.m.? I'd hate to disturb Carol. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

Carol Beebe will stay up for your arrival.  You should ring the front door bell.

I just wanted to explain that the locks for the downstairs where you will be staying are very confusing, so Carol likes to show each guest how to use the keys.   That's why I was concerned about someone being there when you got there.

Looking forward to your visit with us.

gloria

Only difference is this time when I replied and CC'ed the author, he replied with a "Thank you." Nice to know the past emails I've forwarded went somewhere.

Thai Researchers

It has been some time since I have posted a run-in with a rogue email destined for some E first name or Weiner last name. Some a few weeks back were not interesting so I let them fall into the Trash.

Today, however, I was surprised to find an email destined for my namesake author friend. The other Eric Weiner, I must say, who never sends any reply, not even a 'thank you,' when I forward him his own mail that came to me by mistake. But I'll continue to do it because I'm a nice guy.

This message comes from Sharyn. It was a reply with several emails in the chain about a very many things. But the exciting stuff seems to be happening now:

Any word back from your friend at AP in Bangkok? The journalist's investigative skills is exactly the right thing for tracking down Ally's birthmother's status. I am going to email the two friends you refer to in this mail now, I realize they may just refer me on so will let you know. Sharyn

Searsphotos.com

Apparently someone went to Sears to get some photos taken of their child and gave my email address. The confirmation email was nice enough to include a password as well.

Unfortunately no credit card information was entered but I did find out that they live in Connecticut.

To insure that I don't get any further emails from Sears, I updated my email address with something random.

Another thing to note is that the child in the photos had one freakishly large head.

I'm not in my residency

Hi Dr. Weiner,

My mom plays bridge with your father and said I should contact you since you could provide advice on post-baccalaureate premed programs which I am currently looking into. What would be a convenient time to chat on the phone regarding these programs? I know you are very busy with your residency so I am available whenever you have a free moment.

Thanks,
Adam _______

WMS-IV

It's been a while since I've been contacted by Fordham.

Hi Elie,

I hope that you are doing well. I am in charge of monitoring the Testing Lab this semester. I noticed that you had signed out a WMS-IV, but no one was in the lab at the time. Generally, the tests can only be signed out when someone is in the Testing Lab. Next time, could you please e-mail me first, and if you cannot make my hours, I will try to arrange another alternative way for you to get the tests that you need? Thanks!

I don't teach at Fordham Jesuit University in NY

I have been holding out on this blog. I admit. I have received about 3 emails so far from teachers at Fordham for various things that weren't too interesting but I'm getting a little peeved now. I don't work at that school and I don't even have an @fordham.edu address so I am at a loss. Oh, and I'm not contributing towards the baby gift:

Hello All,

If you were planning on contributing towards a gift for Abigail, please do so by Thursday. Kathy will be going out this weekend to purchase a gift card from the department.

Thank you

They make fantasy horse games?

Welcome to the World of Bella Sara, a magical place full of beauty and joy where you may activate your Bella Sara trading cards and collect horses in an online stable. A safe world of fun and adventure lies just beyond the stable gate, with games, puzzles and activities for you to enjoy with your favorite horses.

Once your horse is in her warm, comfy stable, you may care for her by feeding, brushing, cleaning her stall and making her happy. Along with your horses and your card collection, we have games, activities, and other features for you to enjoy. And there's tons more planned, so keep watching the main page for news.

Someone just signed up for this weird fantasy horse game and put in my email address. Oh look, a second email. They must have not received their login credentials and are trying to have them sent again. Too bad, so sad.

Geography of unintentional email recipients

Hum... could the author of Geography of Bliss be up to a new book or is this a strange coincidence???

How are things going? How is Sonya doing at school ? Is the book progressing and is your researcher at work yet ? My love to all. Every thing is quiet down here and fortunately there are no severe storms to contend with.

Happy New Year. Let it be sweet and fruitful.

Fordham College

Professor Weiner... I like that. Funny because some of my family who teaches is not keen on using "Weiner" as their name. Probably because they are teaching younger students who would make the obvious name jokes.

Dear Sonya,
This is exactly what I needed. I have dropped you from the previous Bio Psych and registered you for the Bio Psych Lab on Wed/Thurs at the Lincoln Center campus with Dr. E. Weiner.

Good luck,

Howdy & Re:Howdy

I had heard from the people a while ago. I guess my response of "you have the wrong person" didn't sink in.

Subject: Howdy

Liz: I'm in town for the CMSA and thought of you ...hope all is well with the family of five!!! Being here, even with the horrible attendance at this conference, makes me really miss the old days ...ah, maybe one day again. I miss our UW talks ...best, Jeffrey

Subject Re:Howdy

Hiya!

I imagine the CMSA is not such a happy place. We just hosted our real estate conference today and it was a downer. All is well here. Kids are great - they don't care about the economy so much. Would be great to catch up soon! Say hi to Tre. Best, Liz

Apparently I'm going to Conneticut

Thank you for booking your hotel with priceline. As a courtesy below is a copy of the hotel itinerary/receipt you recently reviewed on-line at priceline.

Apparently I'll be there on April 27, 2009 for 1 night. I will be staying at the Marriott Trumbull Merritt Parkway. I got a good rate at $90 for the night.

You know what would be really funny? If I called up with my confirmation number and asked them to change the reservation to either a night earlier/later and to upgrade me to a suite and tell them to send the new confirmation to the email address on file ;-)
